Veterans Exploration Therapy

501 (c)(3) Nonprofit Organization

WHO THEY ARE?

Veterans Exploration Therapy is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization incorporated in Colorado committed to helping veterans in a non-traditional wilderness therapy setting. We are founded and operated by combat veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan

WHY

Since 2001, there have been over 125,000 veteran-related suicides in the United States compared to 65,542 combat-related deaths of U.S. service members reported since the Vietnam War, Gulf War, Somalia, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom combined.

Veterans are up to 57% more likely to commit suicide than the general population. The Department of Veterans Affairs estimates that 22 Veterans per day die from suicide. This is one loss every 65-85 minutes, totaling 8,030 deaths per year, approximately 20 percent of all suicides in the United States.

We are currently experiencing an epidemic of mental health issues plaguing our veteran community, and unfortunately, many turn to substance abuse to cope. Resources for these problems are limited or buried in bureaucracy.

That’s where we come in. As a nonprofit organization, we're here to bridge the gaps that are needed to be filled in the community and serve the veterans who have fallen through the cracks..

MISSION

Empowering veterans, service members, and families to explore the wilderness and therapeutic pathways through outdoor recreation.

VISION

To provide a community of support for veterans seeking growth and healing with family and friends in the outdoors
